It is with profound sorrow that we share the passing of Alexandra Elizabeth Fischer, née Stetter, who left us on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in New York at the age of 28. Though her life was brief, her extraordinary spirit, boundless compassion, and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on all fortunate enough to have known her. Alexandra’s legacy is one of selfless care and genuine connection, qualities that defined her every action and interaction.
Alex was a shining example of compassion and empathy. No matter how small the moment, she invested her time, effort, and energy into making others feel seen, supported, and loved. She was a shoulder to cry on during difficult times, a cheerleader celebrating successes, and a thoughtful friend who always knew how to lift spirits. Whether offering a comforting hug, sending a care package, or writing a heartfelt note, Alex’s acts of kindness radiated warmth and sincerity. Her presence brought joy and comfort, and her legacy of compassion continues to inspire those around her.
Born in Burlington, Vermont, and raised in Montpelier, Alex was a vibrant and talented young woman from the start. She attended Montpelier High School, graduating in 2015, where she excelled in academics, debate, and sports. An avid debater and a fierce competitor in every season’s sport, her artistic talents also shone brightly—her artwork still decorates the halls of her alma mater, often bringing smiles to those who follow in her footsteps, especially her beloved younger sister, Meredith.
Alex continued her education at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, earning a degree in Public Policy in 2020. Her time at Hamilton was marked by deep friendships, memorable experiences abroad in Copenhagen, and dedication to her rowing team. There, she formed lifelong bonds, met her future husband Eric, and found her second family. Her college years shaped her into the compassionate, driven, and joyful person she was.
After graduation, Alex began her professional journey as a management consultant in Boston, quickly earning recognition for her intelligence and dedication. Her work ethic, combined with her warmth, made her a natural leader and a beloved colleague. She and Eric’s relationship blossomed, and after moving to Manhattan, Alex proved herself to be an exceptional hostess, filling her apartment with friends, laughter, and delicious home-cooked meals—the kind of moments she treasured most.
In October 2024, Alex married Eric in a heartfelt ceremony in Waitsfield, Vermont. They looked forward to building a life together, filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Her devotion to her family was fierce, and she leaves behind her loving husband Eric Fischer; her parents, Jeff and Jean Stetter; and her sister Meredith, all of whom will miss her deeply.
Her influence lives on in the countless memories she created—her kindness, her unwavering loyalty, and her radiant spirit will continue to inspire everyone fortunate enough to have known her. Her family hopes to honor her memory by carrying forward her compassionate legacy, striving daily to emulate her warmth and generosity.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Grace Church, 802 Broadway, New York. Following the service, a visitation will take place at Greenwich Village Funeral Home, 199 Bleecker Street, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. In the coming months, her family will host a celebration of life in Vermont to honor her life and legacy.
